Magic, Gifts & Curses
Beyond the Mountains has always strived to be just that little bit different to other RPGs while not being totally outrageous. For this reason Beyond the Mountains is a semi-realistic horse RPG, meaning that characters can be joined or born with gifts, curses, and powers.
01. Currently, powers go through approval with moderators on joining. Each power must have a disadvantage that affects the character itself.
02. Each member is currently allowed to join 2 characters with a max of 2 powers each. There is currently no limit on characters born in-game with powers. This rule does not apply to attributes that do not carry magic/etc.
03. If powers are assigned to a foal at birth, then it is the foal statter’s responsibility to be fair with the power/curse. If a foal statter is unsure on the power/curse assigned to a foal, they can ask a moderator for approval or to check it.
04. Powers may not be added to characters after joining unless they are given through a special event or are earned.
05. Powers may be anything from controlling fire to manipulating shadows or even teleportation.
Physical Attributes
Physical attributes refer to non-natural additions to the character. This includes items that the character may have on them. This does not allow for live companions, the addition must be attached to the character in some way.
Attributes can include (but are not limited to):
- Unnatural markings/eyes
- Beads/feathers/braids in the hair
- Horns/spikes/scales (not impervious to damage)
- Wings (if they are flight-capable, they count as a power)
- Cloven hooves/claws, etc.
Physical attributes may not mutate the character in shape, they must remain ‘equine-like’.
Fantasy Breeds
Fantasy breeds include breeds that do not exist in reality but may be shown through myths and legends. Eg. A type of unicorn.
01. Unicorns/Pegasus/Vampires/made up breeds/etc as a standalone breed do not count as breeds. These are ‘types’ of horses and do not apply to the breed section, they count towards the powers and attributes section of the stats. “Traces of… unicorn/Pegasus descent" is acceptable.
02. Undead/Zombie horses do not count as breeds. They count towards the power section of stats.
Immortality and Agelessness
01. Ageless characters are characters that cannot be killed by age but can be killed through injury, sickness and malnutrition.
02. Immortal characters are characters that cannot be killed at all. (Though we would prefer them to have at least one weakness/way of dying)
03. Immortality and Agelessness both count as a power.
Restrictions
01. Each power must have a limit to its use and/or have an effect on the user.
02. Powers cannot be impervious to other weakening powers, eg. Fire is weakened by water. Shadows weakened by light.
03. Shapeshifters may not be in their alternate form for more than 50% of their posts and may only be in their alternate form in one thread at any given time. This includes battle threads.
